Our Story

Future Vintage has been bringing a whole new sound to the burgeoning Florida music scene for the last eight years. Their name is synonymous with their sonic vision – presenting electro-tinted original music that bridges the gap between all great Funk music past, present and future. Their sound is rooted in the classic Funk period of the late 70’s and early 80’s with further influence from 70’s era Jazz-Funk/Fusion as well as classic and modern Hip Hop/R&B, and finally with an ear to what’s happening in Electronic Dance Music today. A Future Vintage live set can run the gamut of Funk styles from any of these periods or sub-genres. Tight syncopated grooves, classic Hip Hop beats, Electro-Funk, 4-on-the-floor Dance workouts and more traditional style Funk all mix into one dance-inducing concoction. In addition to the standard format of the Keys/Bass/Drums trio Future Vintage brings modern technology to the fold by melding programmed tracks and samples, drum machines and live looping/sample manipulation onto their regular instrumentation, creating layer after layer of funky sound.

Future Vintage is led by Keyboardist/Composer Matt Giancola and features fellow founder Trevor McDannel on Bass/Synth Bass and recent addition Tucker Sody on Acoustic and Electric Drums. Together they share years of combined experience cutting their teeth in various Funk outfits throughout the US. The trio released their debut full-length album ‘Doin It Right’ in early 2016 which is the definitive statement of the sound the band has been working to develop over their first few years together. An as-of-yet-to-be-titled recording project is currently set for release in the near future. FV has been a favorite at select clubs throughout Florida and has made appearances at regional festivals including Hulaween, Purple Hatter’s Ball, Earthdance, Orange Blossom Jamboree, Hometeam New Year’s Rally and many others. Look for them to continue and expand on this trend in 2022 and beyond.
